Summary

Using broad-edged dip pens learn the beautiful Italic hand from scratch. Italic is a versatile script that works large and small, for formal and informal occasions. It is also the one to master if you later wish to learn flourishing which adds decorative extras, producing livelier writing.

Further Detail

No prior knowledge is needed for this course, just a willingness to try. We will start with pen exercises to get used to the broad-edged pen and dipping ink, learn the letters in shape groups then focus on assembling them into words. By the end of the day, you should have a good grasp of the Italic alphabet and be able to write a sentence with confidence.

If you have a particular need, such as writing small enough for names on wedding invitations, we can discuss this and incorporate it into the day.
