Enamelling - Jewellery

Learn the art of enamelling on copper and produce beautiful pieces to your own design. Apply coloured powdered glass using a number of techniques, before kiln firing. Choose to enamel pendants, earrings, brooches, or cufflinks. The tutor has more than 25 years’ experience in the craft.

This course offers an introduction to the craft of pewterwork, made popular by the Arts and Crafts Movement. Using simple hand-held tools, learn to give texture and form to flat metal sheet to produce an attractive brooch or pendant. Very little is needed in the way of equipment so this craft can easily be continued at home. The course is aimed at beginners, but if you have already done some pewterwork, there is plenty of scope to extend your skills.

Silver Jewellery - Classic and Contemporary

Make beautiful pieces of contemporary silver jewellery using traditional techniques. This course involves extensive hands-on practice and expert tuition in a well-equipped studio. The tutor is an award-winning designer–jeweller and has taught extensively. Beginners will make a silver band ring, and then progress to making items such as earrings, bangles, pendants, cuff links and brooches to their own design. Those with experience will build on existing skills by working on individual projects with one-to-one guidance.

Silver clay is pure silver but in a soft, pliable form that can be easily formed into fabulous jewellery designs without the need for any specialist silver smithing knowledge. It’s quick, easy and doesn’t require any tricky technical skills.
