Summary

Add a personal touch to your festive décor by making your own seasonal door wreath and a beautiful flower arrangement for your home. This workshop includes an overview of the principles design, conditioning of plant materials and wiring – all skills that you can use in making door wreaths and arrangements for years to come. The tutor is an independent florist, experienced teacher and demonstrator for the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies.

Your wreath will be made entirely from natural materials (seasonal foliage, cinnamon sticks, dried oranges, cones, seedpods etc.) but if you wish to bring decorations to add a bit of Christmas bling, such as small baubles to match your festive colour scheme, then please do so.

Your festive flower arrangement will be a stunning addition to your Christmas décor and suitable for display anywhere in your home.

This course is designed for a range of abilities, including beginners.

Materials

Materials are not included in your course fee.  Materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £40. The items you will need to bring with you are listed below.

Please note that we do not have the facilities to take card payments in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.

Please bring with you:

  • a good pair of scissors/secateurs
  • apron
  • old tea towel
  • small Christmas baubles to complement your Christmas colour scheme (approx 9) – optional

If you want your wreath to sit on a table as an advent wreath rather than hang on a door, you will need to bring 4 pillar candles.

Tutor Profile

I have been a floral art tutor for 15 years and have a Diploma in Floral Art and Design, a RHS general Certificate and a Certificate in garden design.

I have won a gold medal at the Malvern RHS Show, a best in show in the area and commendations at National Shows. I have exhibited at Westminster Abbey on 2 occasions.

I am a NAFAS area demonstrator and also teaches private classes locally as well as doing exclusive wedding flowers, funeral flowers and events flowers as an independent florist.

I love to pass on my passion for flowers and floral designs to my students and particularly like to introduce new students to the beautiful art of flower arranging both traditional and contemporary.

Beginners and improvers are welcomed to all the courses here at Ardington and will receive individual attention and support.

I teach regularly at Ardington throughout the year and base the classes on seasonal plant materials and occasions.

Timings & Refreshments

Coffee is available from 9.45am. The course starts at 10am and finishes at 4.30pm. Fresh ground coffee and a range of teas are provided all day, along with biscuits in the morning, a sandwich lunch and cake in the afternoon.
