Pattern Cutting - A Top with Sleeves

This course is designed for students who have previously completed one of our pattern cutting courses and would like to learn how to make a bodice with sleeves, under the guidance of trained pattern cutter Elizabeth Cake. We will cover drafting a bodice block and a one-piece sleeve block, plus the moving of bust darts.

Felt Scarves - Cobweb and Nuno Felt

Learn to make beautiful, light cobweb felt and nuno felt scarves. Cobweb feltmaking produces a lovely delicate, lacy fabric that can be used to make scarves and wraps. In nuno feltmaking wool is worked onto a lightweight natural fabric. The fibres of the wool migrate through the fabric so that the two become interwoven, creating fascinating textures and beautiful colours.

Loom Weaving

Discover some of the many possibilities provided by fascinating craft of weaving. You will weave plain weave samples on a rigid heddle loom and twill weaves on a four-shaft table loom. You will also learn to how to set up looms for weaving. The tutor is a member of the Oxford Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers.

Mosaics - China and Found Objects

This is a highly creative and enjoyable course in which you will use found objects and broken china for mosaicing a board, pot, frame – or whatever your imagination conjures up. Use all those bits and pieces you’ve been collecting over the years: shards of china you’ve dug up, buttons you couldn’t throw away, shells, pebbles and sea glass, or other items you’ve gathered over the years. You will be guided through your own individual project to create a unique and wonderful piece to take home.
