Course details
In this two-part workshop, we will be exploring the different ways of using watercolour pencils to create a drawing/painting of summer flowers and botanicals. We will be looking at the different pencils and techniques that can be used to create an interesting and exciting study.
Each week, we will begin with the basic observational drawing that will be developed into a painting. This gives an opportunity to explore the different ways that the watercolour pencils can be used to best advantage for each person taking part. The painting can be precise or wonderfully spontaneous.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions during the demonstrations and students will be encouraged to experiment with this interesting medium between classes.
Specific skills you will learn
- How to use watercolour pencils to create a “painting” of the chosen summer flowers
- Use of techniques to blend colour with confidence
- Creating shadow and light in the drawing/painting
- How to create three dimensional images
- Use of tools and techniques
- Use of different papers for different effects

All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online class page. Helpful and easy to use, these private pages enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – before, during, and after class.
Jan will offer personal feedback for any work submitted via the class page within thirty days of the class ending. The link to access the page will be shared via email in the days leading up to the class.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment. For full terms and conditions, please click here.
